Dr. Bo Worley led the team from Emmanuel Baptist down for a week of work, service, and fellowship. They had a three doctor dental team that worked on and off campus, lovingly serving the needs of the brethren of the mission family and also sharing the love of Christ with those that do not know him as they went to off campus ministry sites. God uses this testimony each time to open new doors for sharing the Gospel. Other areas of service were: construction on a new classroom, carpentry work for staff homes and several sewing projects. Much was accomplished during the weeklong visit of these friends.

Following this team, Dick Patterson from Canton Tx. led a work team down that helped with the construction of the bathrooms at the Pochote church project. Digging trenches, laying rock foundations, and making rebar columns were some of the things accomplished thanks to their serving hearts and hands. The visible testimony of God's love through the work done, attracted several people and they came to the church service for the first time.

So God continues to add new people to this fellowship, where brother Fernando is the Pastor. Many have come to faith in Christ in the last few weeks, and we marvel at God's saving grace in this place where the Gospel met with fierce opposition for such a long time. It is God using the aroma of Christ, from his church in action, as brethren are serving one another. May the Lord Jesus be glorified in all these things. Also during this week the Lord opened a special opportunity at the Faculty of Medicine of the Veracruz University. One of our board members, Dr. Vargas, who teaches at the University, asked us to participate in a special one day conference on Faith and Medicine. This actually turned into a great opportunity to share the Gospel of Christ with the 9th semester medical students.
Sherry Hagerhjelm one of the team members with this last group, is a nurse from Shreveport, with much experience in dealing with critically ill people. Sherry went with us and shared regarding the great difference in she has seen while treating patients that know Jesus as Lord and Savior, and those who don't. How the peace of God comes in a special way to those surrendered to Christ and have His forgiveness of sins. At the beginning of the meeting the attitude of many students was cold and defiant, but the Lord blessed, and as doctor Vargas said in closing 'there is a special peace offered in this most important message of the Power and Peace of God in Jesus Christ'. Many of the 'soon to be' doctors expressed their gratitude as they heard these truths of God for the first time. Here at the mission we had never heard before of this kind of an opportunity to openly share of Christ in a Public State University class setting. Praise the Lord for this special blessing! We have a very special prayer request to share with you at this time. It is regarding Beto Alvarado. Beto is the son of Mary, who is a staff member here at the mission and she helps with all our medical and dental team projects and ministries here at MITC. Beto has just been diagnosed with a brain tumor, that, according to the doctors here in town, is located in a very difficult and dangerous area of the brain. Please pray for this dear family, Mary, Beto, and his sister Marlen. that God would shed his grace abundantly upon them at this time, and guide in His wisdom in all the things necessary for Beto. Thank you for your faithful service to the Lord, as you lovingly pray and support us here in Mexico. |
